Sunday Steal; Milk Box Bag

milk box bag | eBay// China | £8ish

I thought I would just share this little bag that I bought the other day, if a bag like this doesn't scream soon to be crazy cat lady then I don't know what does.
I know that a few companies based in the UK sell some similar for around £25 but I spotted this on eBay & bought it from this seller /here/, although it did come from China the shipping was really quick and it arrived safe & sound.
The bag itself was £5.99 then around £3 for the postage, a crazy but cute bargain in my opinion.

Next is to wait & see how many funny looks I get when I wear it out for the first time.
Hope you're all well.

If Money Was No Matter; How I'd Dress At Christmas Time

Today has been an icy cold day & I though what better to do on my day off than have a cosy day in eyeing up a lot of clothes on Polyvore that I couldn't afford due to the Christmas present buying ordeal. Ever single year I just see things and buy them without thinking of prices, this is great when you see somebody you care about loving & being genuinely happy with what they have received however my bank balance isn't looking to healthy at the moment.
Anyway, when could be better to swoon over a heap of designer things than when you're pretty much poor..

The first outfit is a kind of day/casual look, filled with Charlotte Olympia item's, I absolutely love her brand at the moment& think she's got it so right when it comes to quirky accessories. I've even been one of these crazy competition people as she is running a twelve day kind of fruit machine style event online in which you can win bags & even her famous cat face shoes.
Every morning I'm eagerly at my computer ready to use my three spins for that day.
The second look is a kind of meal out/drinks outfit, After loving this lip print dress for what feels like years I finally found out the designers name after spotting her in the ASOS magazine this month.
I never thought I'd be such a huge fan of girly pastel clothes but I can safely say I adore them& Alice McCall as a designer.
My final look is a party/going out look, the dress is from SheInside and then I went a little overboard with the Charlotte Olympia accessories (once again), I'd wear this outfit with bright red lips and nails to tie it all together perfectly.

I thought I'd post a few bits of my uni work whilst writing this also, mainly just to share what I've been up to recently. My final line up is now complete which means a busy few week of pattern development before creating the first garments after Christmas, I actually am so excited to get making the items now& can't wait to see how they'll look in real life and not just an idea in my head/ on piece of paper.
I hope you're all well.

OOTD; Socks & Shoes

coat | topshop | oldish
jumper | gap | £35.00
jeans | asos | sale
glittery socks | topshop | £4.00
platforms | zara | old
clutch bag | pull & bear | £15.00

Yesterday night I went to watch Paloma Faith live here in Liverpool, I went with my friend so we went for tea beforehand as well as a little bit of shopping. I wasn't to sure what to wear and ended up changing out of this outfit last minute because I wasn't so keen on driving in heels, but I do quite like the sock & heel combination & can't wait to actually wear it out somewhere.
We had such a lovely night& Paloma never fails when it comes to a good show.
I also managed to pick up the best skirt&jacket suit in the Topshop sale, I think it could easily become a new favourite of mine so I'm sure I will a show an outfit of it in no time at all, as you probably guessed it's pink, no surprise's there hey.

Anyway, I hope you're all well &enjoyed both Halloween & Bonfire night.

Wishlist; Pastels & Cats

If anyone would of said a year ago I would be obsessed with pink/pastels I would never of believed them, but the trends of this year seem to of really wore off on me & suddenly I'm addicted to dressing top to toe in pastels/different shades of pink, hence this very colourful wishlist post..
Olivia Burton Watch | link | asos | £37.00 on sale
Cat Clutch | link | new look | £20.00
Lilac Coat | link | £65.00
PVC Skirt | similar on eBay
Miu Miu Sunglasses | link | £££

I created this wishlist before I made a Missguided order, &found pretty much the exact same lilac coat for much less at just £40.00, you can see it here.
I'm so happy with it because I've wanted a lilac coat for such a long time
& love the cocoon style shape too.
Hope you're all well.

A Peek Into Paris

As I said in my last post me&my friend found a late deal for a weekend trip to Paris.
Booking it was a kind of a spare of the moment thing but we honestly had such an amazing time.

We spent most of the two days wandering around just taking in the atmosphere of the city,
(as well as eating a fair few crepes & drinking plenty of hot chocolate).
The Eiffel Tower was an obvious first stop& the weather was so beautiful whilst we were close to it (perfect weather for the typical tourist photograph's), then we did a fair bit of shopping as well as swooning over some of the most beautiful window displays I've ever seen.

A trip on a little bike in the evening is something I doubt either of us will ever forget, &just cycling past the tower lit up at night was a really lovely thing to do. I love how so many memories come out of a holiday, even if it is just a short city break.
I thought I'd share a few photograph's in this post &then my next post will be an outfit.
Hope you're all well.

Abit of a catchup; Long time, No blog.

I just wanted to put together a little post not really to explain why I haven't blogged but more so what I've been up to.
Firstly I've started back at uni which obviously means I have much less time on my hands. During this year I create a nine piece collection which I'm so excited about (I swear I haven't shut up about it since the day I went back) we're able to choose our own themes which can be whatever we want them to be, mine is Granny Chic which is pretty much going to consists of a huge amount of pastel faux fur. I'm pretty sure I'll be waving goodbye to my social life and saying hello to nothing but sewing after Christmas, but till then plenty of planning and designing is happening.
Just to give you an idea of what my collection will look like, this is one of my visual mood boards;
With uni comes a big decision that I'm still unsure about, my course is currently a Foundation Degree with an automatic entry on to third year in which I'll graduate with a Fashion (BA). For me personally I am still unsure whether I wish to complete the third year or leave with my Foundation & get into the world of work properly. I think there's a lot of pressure on people nowadays when it comes to education and a lot of job applications are more bothered about previous experience rather than the degree qualification itself. As I do want my own business eventually I think short courses and a job would be best for me but then I'm terrified of throwing away a degree just by not completing another year. If anyone has any advice or has been through the same kind of thing then I honesty would love to hear from you

Something else that's new is the amount of time I spend on trains lately (not that I'm complaining, I love a good nap on the train). My boyfriend lives about a two hour train ride from me now & quite close to Birmingham, which luckily for me is a city I had always wanted to visit. I love literally everything about the place especially The Custard Factory, which is full of all kind of vintage clothing shops and quirky buildings (&even a giant yellow monkey).
Visiting here has made me really think twice about my future and where I want to live, although I love Liverpool I'm starting to think there's a lot of places where I would love to spend more time.
Next weekend me & my friend are visiting Paris for the weekend which is something I'm seriously looking forward too, we found a late deal & thought what's the harm in two nights away. I've already eagerly planned my outfits so I'm sure some outfit posts will be up after that, although I've visited Paris a few times before who doesn't need another Eiffel Tower photograph to add to their collection?

I'm not really sure what I was trying to share in this post, but maybe that change isn't always a bad thing, new places & people can sometimes be for the best.
Anyway, I hope you're all well & I do plan to blog some new outfit posts pretty soon.

A more likely icon; Back To Alexa

Recently I've been looking at myself & most days thinking "what the hell are you wearing Hollie?" ..
(that as well as my boyfriend thinking one of my pvc skirt's was actually a carrier bag when I took it out my suitcase last weekend)... which isn't really the best.
This got me thinking about how I used to dress& how much its changed.
Alexa Chung was the first person I ever looked up to as an idol, so to say. I always remember seeing a photograph of her in a embroidered white top& geek chic glasses& tumblr and instantly loving her from that day. Although I would never copy a look, I do want to start dressing a bit less 'walking rainbow like' & more sophisticated again. Therefore whilst most twenty one years old are out getting drunk on a Saturday night, I'm sat in, browsing through the many pages of Polyvore creating looks based on Alexa's style that could inspire me, as well as ordering a mass of breton striped tops at the same time, obviously.
bag  | here

quilted bag | here

loafers | here
What I love about Alexa is how effortless she looks yet know it probably isn't just any old dress she's threw on that morning.. Stripes and denim could never be done wrong.
I love these furry loafers, so much I think I'm going to try to create / post a DIY post based on them soon, so keep an eye out for that.
patent boots | here
ruffle top | here

Classy crop tops; I think crops can be hard to wear without showing a tad to much skin, I recently seen a photograph of Alexa wearing a ruffle crop similar to the one above with a midi skirt too, shoulders or knees but never both could be a new rule, like boobs or legs yet a bit different.

Camel coats, clutches and chunky shoes.. What more can I say.

Dress like a pilgrim on the outside and a whore underneath. — Alexa Chung.

Hope you're all well& enjoying the end of summer.

OOTD; Peacock Kimono

kimono | eBay from a vintage shop | £70.00
I've recently come back from a girls holiday in Greece& I'm not quite sure why is it but whenever I have a holiday abroad I suddenly want to start buying all kinds of boho ankle bracelets& dream catchers, when usually that isn't really my style. Anyway, I spotted a girl in the airport coming home wearing the most amazing floral velvet kimono, so sent my friend over to ask where she got it from, she said River Island so naturally, I went hunting high&low for it but could not find it anywhere.
This made me think why not just try& find a genuine vintage kimono for pretty much the same price.
As always eBay had the answer to all my kimono dreams with this velvet&peacock one.
I think kimono's are such a good clothing item to have as you can wear the most boring outfit (like here) but then adding a kimono just instantly makes it look so dressy.
I even bought I pair of jeans today to wear it with, so I now have one pair of jeans in my entire wardrobe, pretty big step for me.
I hope you're all well.

OOTD; £2 Two Piece

pom pom earrings | diy
floral two piece | £2.00 | vintage table sale
silver platforms | zara (oldish)
This outfit is actually from May so almost a month ago now, I just haven't had a chance to blog it yet.
I did share about this little bargain set in a previous post but not an outfit, it fits perfectly, which I think makes the £2 I paid for it an even more amazing steal.
I tied the blouse here so it looks more a jumpsuit than a two piece but I'm going to wear them separate soon too. I honestly think this is one of the best bargain's I've ever got from a vintage fair, glad to say somebody's old clothes have made me a very happy girl.
Hope you're all well.

OOTD; Holographic &Pom Poms

coat | topshop
top | asos
bag | pull&bear | £16.00
trousers | primark | £12.00
sandals | ebay
pom pom earrings | diy
Today's post is just a quick outfit from last night, we just went for tea and a few cocktails before watching some fireworks on the Albert Docks, I really love unplanned nights that just kind of work out as they do, they are always the best one.

I've wanted a holographic bag for absolutely ages& finally got my hands on this oversized one for just £16.00 at Pull&Bear, which I think is a serious bargain.

Another thing was pom pom's earrings (&shoe clips to, but that's a work in progress). After seeing them everywhere I honestly couldn't stop searching for them online, however a lot of the ones I liked were over £100 which I think is a awful lot for earrings, anyway this got me thinking how easy it probably is to make my own.
I just bought a meter of faux fur piping and a bag of earring loops and sewn them together, I'm so happy with how they turned out and already on a mission to create a pair in every colour I can think of.
I hope you're all well& enjoy the weekend!

OOTD; Marshmallow Pink

hat | vintage stall | £5.00
coat | topshop | £80ish
basic white top | topshop | old
extremely creased trousers | vintage stall | £4.00
shoes | tk maxx | £30

First of all I need to apologise for just how creased these trousers are, I had been cutting out fabric on the floor& basically leaning all over it and the pants, saying that I didn't realise quite how obvious the creases were until now, sorry about that.
Bad blogger with my creased pants.

Anyway, I feel as if I've caught some kind of 'pink loving illness' at the moment because I seriously can't stop wearing this colour, in all shades not even just pastels.
So strange because if anybody would of said a few months back I'd be dressing in head to toe pink, I would of completely disagreed but the pastel pink trend has hit me hard.

I thought the zebra shoes went quite nice with this outfit to, as they just add a bit of pattern/detail.

Has anyone else been loving the pink trend this month? Please let me know that I'm not the only one!
Hope you're all well.

OOTD; Overdressed Aquarium

top | zara | £20.00
skirt | asos | £20ish
platform sandals | eBay | £25
sunglasses | asos | £10.00
bag | vivienne westwood

The Friday just gone was my 21st birthday, I had a party& went out the weekend before (which ended in nursing an horrendous hangover for the Sunday&Monday), so when it came to doing something on the actual day, even the thought of alcohol made me feel a bit ill, (I'm officially a pensioner now it seems).
This meant a day out to the aquarium accompanied by a little bit of shopping& lunch with my friend was what felt like the perfect day!
Now don't get me wrong, I did feel slightly overdressed in a white PVC skirt strolling through the shark tunnel, but it was my birthday after all, think that makes me allowed.

I had such a lovely birthday& it really did make me realise how lucky I am to have such loving people around me. I'm never a 'soppy' kind of girl but birthdays do seem to make me seriously emotional.
I hope you're all well& enjoyed the weekend, whatever you got up to!

Vintage Table Sale; Alot for Less

Today I visited a little village about an hour away from where I live, they have loads of vintage& charity shops as well as a heap of vintage looking bicycles everywhere, literally a dream place for me.
To make things even better, today there was a huge table sale in one of the little old churches, I spent around £25.00 and honestly couldn't believe how many great bargains I got, all with genuine vintage labels to.
( &minus the overpriced tags that you usually find).
floral two piece trouser set | £2.00 for both.
metallic/ pastel blue top | £2.50
leopard print kimono | £4.00
pastel pink high waisted trousers | £4.00
pattern peplum top | £3.00
pastel floral playsuit | £5.00
I also bought a huge reel of lilac wool to make a whole load of pom poms which was just £3.00 too.
total : £23.50
I've already re-organised my clothes rails ready to get snapping some outfit photographs.
Hope you're all well& enjoying the beautiful weather if you're here in the UK.
